A POEM by CARSON JORDAN

GOOD HURT

FROM CARSON'S UPCOMING BULLSHIT CHAPBOOK: 'NO MORE BUT I MUST' (SPRING 2024)

a bowl of cherries

sticky undersided

and full of spoil

first taste

a series of bad boys

good for a girl

who needs her mama

I’m threatening spring time

aching for back shots

tell my reverse I’m pretty

and come with gifts

kill him in your head

I say

flower rot, rat pelt

wet pedal

possibility

spring, my once manicure

my little bleach job

trim the cuticles

scrub the grout

pissed and spirit touched me

I weap, repeat

it’s good hurt
